E-commerce giant Amazon is gearing up with a new strategy to take on retail giants like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. ‘AmazonFresh Pickup’ to be launched as a move to crack into the billion dollar grocery market. As of now, this grocery pickup service is in testing stage in Seattle.

Presently, AmazonFresh pickup service is available for Amazon employees. Sooner or later, Amazon Prime members can avail this service to order groceries online and drive to a pickup location. Also, Amazon crews will deliver items to the car for the members under the Prime loyalty program.

The company says that the order will be ready to pick in a time span of just 15 minutes after placing the order. Besides that, AmazonFresh service offers groceries delivery to home. However, this new service will only be limited to Amazon Prime members.

The company says that delivering groceries to homes under its AmazonFresh service is the latest way to shop. Available items include fresh produce, bread, dairy, meats and a range of household item and few others.  Currently, the service is under pilot run in two locations at Seattle, the city where Amazon is headquartered. Also, Amazon has a physical bookstore in Seattle and pop-ups at malls where it displays Amazon devices like Kindle.

Amazon Go convenience store in Seattle automatically monitors the selected items and adds to a virtual cart. Though, the store is open exclusively for Amazon employees as of now. Amazon has the grocery delivery service in some cities previous.
