Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 Review and Specifications

Samsung launched Galaxy J-series 2016 edition smartphones, J5 & J7 in Korea at the end of April month and now they entered Indian market on 9th May. The South Korean Electronics giant, Samsung has earlier launched Galaxy J3 with S-bike mode in India which is priced at Rs. 8,990. The new models are the successor models of Galaxy J5 and J7 launched in India in 2015. The all new Galaxy J5 and J7 2016 models are priced at Rs.13,990  and Rs.15,990 respectively.

In terms of Looks both the models have not much difference when compared to the earlier Samsung models. The all plastic body is given a brushed metal finish which makes it look classy. The devices witness slight edges like the Galaxy Edge. The back panel boasts a metal finish gives grip and its light weight makes the devices handy. The models come with 13 megapixel main camera and 5 megapixel selfie shooter with a LED flash which is added advantage to such mid-range mobiles.

Like the Galaxy J3 the new models come up with the S-bike mode. The inbuilt applications include Samsung, Google and Microsoft applications. In case of non-usage, Microsoft applications can be deleted. The icons are rounded which is been the same from the Galaxy S7. The models run on latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. Well, these entire features make them the good looking budget smartphones. Hoping for the best let’s see whether these models are going to make any difference or just going to be the same old one in a new pack!

Common Features of Galaxy J5 & J7 2016 Models:

Both the NextJ 2016 Galaxy J5 & J7 models features S-bike mode. Samsung says that this mode has been added to all the J- series in India. The new edition modes have metal frame and a stylish design which make the look much better. Saving data on video, Wi-Fi and music apps is possible as both the models come with Ultra-saving data mode 2.0. The models will be available in white, gold and pink/ rose gold colors.

Samsung’s High-End Family Hub is a $6000 Smart Refrigerator

Both the devices will be shipped with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow Operating system and the devices come with a really good 13-megapixel main camera with f/1.9 aperture. The 5-megapixel selfie shooter comes with LED flash light. Well, coming to the connectivity, Samsung Galaxy J5 & J7 support 4G LTE, Bluetooth V4.1, GPS, Dual SIM card slots and includes NFC for mobile transactions using Samsung Pay. One can enjoy 16 GB on-board storage space which is expandable with the micro SD card slot up to 128 GB.

Galaxy J5 Specifications:

Galaxy J5 when compared to J7 features a bit small 5.2-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) Super AMOLED HD display. The model is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor paired with 2GB RAM. Galaxy J5 is backed up by a 3,100 mAh Li-Ion battery. The model measures 145.8 x 72.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 159 grams.

Galaxy J7 Specifications:

The bigger Galaxy J7 has 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) super AMOLED HD display which is powered by a faster 1.6 Ghz Exynos 7870 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The Galaxy J7 is backed up by a 3,3000 mAh Li-Ion battery. Galaxy J7 measures 145.8 x 72.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 170 grams.

The giant South Korean manufacturer on Wednesday showcased the Family Hub refrigerator at its showroom in New York. The smart fridge is now on sale in all its stores across the country. The retail price of the model starts at $5,600 and $6000 for over-the-top black stainless steel model. Yes, it is the most expensive fridge which is right now not available outside the US.

The other cool option featured in the all new Samsung smart fridge is, when the cameras associate with the “Food Reminders” app, you can drag and drop expiration date reminders on different food items in the fridge.

Well, this is not the first smart fridge with a camera. In 2014 LG has showcased such fridge but it has no access to many apps like this model have. But isn’t too high to be spent on a refrigerator? One can find a cheaper smart fridge like Whirpool’s smart French Door Fridge prices $3,800 which offers most of the internet connected features. So, lets wait and see whether this is going to be the fridge of the future or just too far fridge.

Samsung announces new Gear 360 camera Sale starts on 29 April only in limited countries .

The age of traditional cameras may be ending soon as most of the tech lovers are opting for Cameras, which supports 360-degree mode. The Virtual Reality is the need of the hour for everyone. Keeping in this mind tech giant Samsung had developed a 360degree camera which is released at an event called Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the starting of the year.

The camera is aptly named as GEAR 360, is going to be shipped from 29th April 2016 limited to South Korea and Singapore. With only one day left to the shipping date, the officials had announced the price of Samsung’s 360-degree camera which is $347.When compared to other camera’s like LucidCam VR it comes with a very affordable price.

Coming to the physical structure of the camera it sizes is little bigger than a golf ball. The Samsung Gear camera is featuring with two 180 degree fisheye lenses attached back to back together making it a 360-degree video.

Gear 360 camera is capable of taking 30 Megapixel shots along with video shooting of 3840×1920 resolution which is equivalent to 4K videos.

The other specs of this masterpiece are that it comes with dust & water-resistant body along with a tripod/handgrip to hold. It is also provided with a rechargeable and removable battery. PC software is available for more in-depth editing capabilities. It can shoot videos with different modes built within the device. The Storage capacity of the Cam can be increased up to 128GB with External Memory Cards.

Videos can be viewed with a Virtual Reality device or on the screens of mobile /tablet/PC by dragging the cursor. It can be linked to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and later models. Capturing and storage of the videos and images can be done by using the smartphone.

It can also be turned to VR Action Camera for recording action sequences by switching into the single-lens mode. A small screen is placed for onscreen display and it also supports Bluetooth option. The length of the device is 2.6×2.2×2.4 inches and weighing only 153grams.

Briefing in a presentation at the Company’s Developer Conference in San Francisco, Mr Andrew Dickerson, director of software engineering for Samsung VR stated that “2016 is shaping up to be the year of VR”. The Firm is making people participate in making Virtual Reality content and not just consuming it.

He also remarked that Samsung is working on the advancement of the current technology to overcome problems like poor image quality, insufficient computing power, the weight issues, restricted mobility of VR headsets, and dizziness. The shipping dates for the United States are not disclosed yet.

Samsung’s next series Galaxy Note 6 rumours are escalating with Edge Display, Massive Battery, and 50% more RAM.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Phablet series rounded on the Internet and recently claimed to launch presumably in July. Now, analysis for Galaxy Note 6 has been surfaced probably with two variants of Handsets, one with flat screen and the other one with a curved display.

It is aforementioned to be using its in-house Exynos 8890 mechanized with the processor for the European prototypes while the company has also sent out units powered by Snapdragon 820 processor. Initial Aforesaid said that Galaxy Note 6 is said to come with expandable storage support.

Samsung has not yet revealed in its official statement with concerning Galaxy Note 6. As per the previous leak, Galaxy Note 6 can be expected to be announced soon after the official release of next upcoming developer version of Android N.

The importance given to Galaxy Note 6 regarding biggest improvement is with the 4000mAh battery. Recalling Galaxy Note 5 came with the 3000mAh battery. Further details of Galaxy Note 6 have not yet finalised.

Other hardware specifications report with 12MP camera setup seen in the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge series, along with 6GB RAM, 4000mAh battery and with internal storage of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.

Samsung S7 Edge with its 5.7” inch curved display is a bit closer into S6 Edge+. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge+ might not launch yet and reports also stating that introducing with 5.8-inch 2K display for NOTE 5.
