Both Apple and Android have been working to incorporate back tap features into their devices. And Apple has already rolled them out in its iOS 14. But in general, currently you have to switch between various applications to accomplish different actions. But as Google and Apple have displayed that these features can initiate various actions on you phone like playing or pausing your music, launching the camera ap, turning on the torch by just merely tapping on the back with different frequencies to identify each individual action. And Xiaomi is set to soon follow the same path.
This was spotted byXDA Developers who found the code that supported these features in the recent beta development of MIUI 12 of Xiaomi. Its decision to launch the MIUI 12 has already been announced by Xiaomi by supposedly next month. But this rollout timetable for the software has only been declared in Indonesia. The company has not released any official statement regarding its launch in the Indian market till now.
MIUI 12 is Android 10-based and Xiaomi said, “MIUI 12 will bring features like better privacy protection, smoother animations, multitasking by floating windows, an ultra-battery saver mode to restrict power-consuming features, an option to turn on the app drawer and an enhanced Dark Mode that is said to change the colour palette for third-party apps as well.”
XDA Developers tipster was able to acquire access to the settings as well and they reported that it was still not functional for Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. As revealed by the screenshots released by Kacskrz, who is the tipster, the feature incorporates two options that is a double tap along with a triple tap. This will enable users to select either of five possibilities: taking screenshots, using the torch, proceeding to the control centre, viewing the notification panel, or even opening the camera.
Now you may feel like just five features are not enough, but do keep in mind that this was discovered only through beta. It is still in the trial stages and hidden from the public; it may be possible that by the time it is available to the public and these features are operational and activated in your devices it might just boast of a larger possibility of actions that can be initiated and enjoyed by the users.
